Learning to express the inner through the outer

About

Communication consists of three elements: words, tone of voice, and body language. American psychologist Albert Mehrabian proposed that when we communicate our feelings or express our attitude towards something or someone, 7% of the meaning is conveyed through words, 38% through vocal intonation, and 55% through body language.

The “Movement” workshop focuses specifically on body language. For this workshop, I’ve selected exercises rooted in physical theatre, as well as exercises from actor-training and therapeutic practices, including the Alexander and Laban techniques.

We’ll explore how we move and how animals move, where emotions originate in the body, what changes the quality of our movements, and how these techniques can be applied to communication.

Who is it for?

For actors — to develop nonverbal communication skills and connect speech with the body.

And for anyone who wants to develop a stronger connection with their own body and make better use of nonverbal communication in everyday interactions.

What to expect?

A relaxation-focused workshop where, through movement, you’ll explore the connection between words, emotions, and actions. At the end, you’ll create a short improvisational movement sketch.
